Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Intensive Care Unit staff is specially trained to care for critically ill patients. Our staff monitors any changes in a patient's condition, works to prevent complications, and provides immediate response to any emergency.

ICU Visiting Hours and Procedures

Our primary concern is for the welfare and speedy recovery of our patients.  Visitors can be good therapy; however, rest is very important for the patients and the Hospital strives to be flexible to the patients' needs.

Please refer to the Hospital Visitation Policy.

To assure the privacy of all our patients, please knock on the ICU door and wait for an ICU staff member to escort you inside the unit.

Flowers are not encouraged in the ICU.

Mail is delivered to patients and will be forwarded to the patient if he/she is moved out of the ICU.

All incoming calls for ICU patients are directed to the nursing supervisor.  A portable phone is available for ICU patients to speak to callers.
The Nursing Supervisor will determine whether the patient may take a phone call based on his/her circumstances at the time of the call.

Medications

The pharmacy at Titusville Area Hospital will provide patients with medication during their stay.   It is very helpful to have an up-to-date list of the medications a patient was taking prior to being admitted to the Hospital.  The patient medication list should include the medication name, dosage and times taken.

Clothing and Valuables

A patient's clothing and valuables will be sent home with his or her caretaker. The Hospital is not responsible for a patient's belongings.
If a caretaker is not available, belongings will be placed in the Hospital safe. Personal items such as eyeglasses, dentures, and hearing aids
are generally permitted, but please check with the nurse.

Condition Reports

We recommend that one person be designated as the primary spokesperson to relay information about the patient to other loved ones.
Condition reports can be obtained from the nursing supervisor by calling the Hospital at 814-827-1851.
